To Be Seen…

This Mother’s Day, while sitting together with my mom, my sisters, and the children, we found ourselves reminiscing about different seasons of life.

And in the middle of the conversation, my mother brought up something I hadn’t thought about in years.

Many years ago, during a financially difficult season of my life, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident.

At the time, I had the vehicle… but not the money to repair it.

And without hesitation, my mother used her entire sou sou hand to help me fix it.

As we reflected on that season and the many things life has brought my way, she looked at me and said:

“You have been through a lot.”

And honestly… I was taken aback!

Not because it wasn’t true, but because I didn’t realize she saw it.

For so long, I think I carried many of my struggles quietly.

Trying to cope.
Trying to push through.
Trying to remain strong.

And in that moment, I felt something I didn’t realize I needed so deeply:

I felt seen.

There was something in her eyes too…

Not pity.
Not sadness.

Admiration.

An acknowledgment of my resilience.

And that meant more to me than I can explain.

This week at my daughter’s school’s Parents Day, the theme was “From Root to Fruit”

I keep thinking about this concept… because our roots really do matter.

The love we receive.
The support we are given.
The environment we grow in.

All of it shapes the fruit we eventually produce.

My mother helped hold me up during a difficult season of my life and now, as a mother myself, I understand even more deeply the importance of creating healthy roots for my own children.

Roots grounded in love, resilience, faith, honesty, and intentional living.

Because one day, the fruit will speak for itself.

Scripture Reminds Us

In Matthew 7:17:

“Every good tree bears good fruit…”

And good fruit does not happen accidentally.

It is nurtured.
Watered.
Protected.
Loved.

Reflection

Who has helped sustain you during difficult seasons of your life?

Have you taken time to acknowledge how far you’ve come?

And what kind of roots are you creating for yourself and for those connected to you?

Sometimes healing begins the moment we realize:

  • someone saw us struggling
  • someone recognizes our strength
  • we were never carrying it alone

Be gentle with yourself.
Your roots are still growing.

Until next Saturday!

Love, Talisha ❤️

  1. This is a beautiful write up that brings you to a very deep place of reflection and gratitude! Keep writing

  2. Talisha, you’re always encouraging and inspiring, blessings. I think you were born for this. Even if my journey with you is to encourage you, then I believe purpose is fulfilled.✨️

  3. Yes Talisha your messages are always so so real and genuine. They always set my mind on a positive path of inspiration and motivation. I truly admire you. I see so much of myself by your words that on my own I see the same things in a different perspective

  4. To be seen, is to be known and to be loved.
Of equal importance, is hearing those words, it moves something deep within us: That courage and strength to endure.
    This has truly encouraged me.
